INSPIRATION
Her name is Anjarasit, from the Turkana community in Kenya. Turkana naming traditions for women are rich with meaning, often reflecting the circumstances surrounding a child’s birth, geographical locations, natural phenomena, or even desired attributes.
The Turkana are a semi-nomadic people of northwestern Kenya, known for their resilience, striking adornments, and deep connection to the harsh yet beautiful landscapes they call home. This painting echoes that legacy—a name woven with story, identity, and the enduring spirit of the desert winds.
