INSPIRATION
Aika is from the Chagga (also known as Wachaga in Swahili) tribe, which is found in the Mt. Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania. The name “Aika” means Asante in Swahili, which translates to “Thanks” or “Thankful.” The Chagga people are one of Tanzania’s most prominent ethnic groups, known for their rich agricultural heritage and deep spiritual ties to the majestic slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. This painting captures both gratitude and rootedness—a quiet homage to the mountain, the land, and the culture that shaped her.
