INSPIRATION

Nervous Flutter celebrates the inner beauty of African women, transcending physical appearance. Inspired by the expression “you give me butterflies in my belly,” I created a robotic woman who embodies the essence of nature’s beauty.

The work celebrates the intangible qualities of African women—their strength, resilience, and inner beauty—while highlighting what technology can never truly replicate. The contrast between nature and machinery becomes a reflection on the qualities that make us fundamentally human.

By portraying a robotic woman, I invite viewers to consider what happens when technology attempts to reproduce beauty, and what may inevitably be lost in translation. Nervous Flutter ultimately celebrates the enduring power of our humanity and the beauty that exists beyond what can be seen or measured.
