INSPIRATION

The piece is a tribute to celebrate our ancestors’ hard work and treasures. It is an inspirational guiding principle for our knowledge and wisdom, giving us the power to understand and invent our future. It is an imaginary composition that depicts the intriguing wonders and treasures of diverse African cultures, as seen in the drawing.

The stool on which the character in the middle sits is from Congo. The statue from Côte d’Ivoire is beside his right hand. The hieroglyphic inscriptions, cat statue, and pyramid are from Egypt on his left side. The man’s head is a mask from Nigeria/Benin. The head of a woman, “queen mother,” is also from Nigeria/Benin. The baby-like sculpture he holds is an “Akuaba doll” from Ghana Ashanti.

The art piece harmonizes diverse treasures of Africa, celebrating the powerful thinking and dexterity of African people.
