I met Youveline at a well-known Montreal event, the Haïti en Folie Festival (in July 2023), which aims to showcase Haiti’s cultural diversity, splendor, and richness. Youveline was a guest artist there. She was painting a magnificent piece live when I spotted her. Naturally, her performance drew me over like a magnet. I watched her for a few minutes as she was immersed in her creative world. And as soon as she took a break, I jumped on the occasion to speak with her.

We talked about art and shared our social media accounts, and then Youveline came to my Aströ exhibition at Hachem St-Bruno a month later. I kept following her work on social media and, in building this project, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to showcase her dazzling pieces here. So I contacted her again and the rest is history.
