Faith Omole
I’d call Faith’s art an “art bomb” because I was just blown away by it when I first saw it on Instagram. In her works, she creates captivating illusions through striking color contrasts interwoven with Adinkra symbols, representing African values, concepts, and aphorisms. A closer look reveals beautiful figures and characters.
It took me milliseconds to contact this breathtakingly talented artist and a few days later we met by WhatsApp call.
Faith developed an interest in art from an early age. An interest that soon developed into a passion that would nourish her practice over the years. By high school, she was already displaying solid drawing skills, but also a keen sense of business; her classmates liked her drawings and some would even commission her.
Later on, Faith enrolled in a microbiology program at Obafemi Awolowo University (Osun State, Nigeria) to partially fulfill her parents’ wish to see her study science but she had a plan; she knew she could easily transition from that program to something she truly wanted to do. And so that is exactly what happened over time; Faith started to spend more and more time in the Department of Fine and Applied Arts to get inspiration and practice her skills. She got her B.Sc. in Microbiology but heavily remained an artist at heart. Today she’s a full-time artist.
Her current magnificent style draws its power from the tragic loss of a family member. Through her work, Faith explores the deep bonds between family and lovers, encapsulating moments of tenderness, desire, and shared memories. Her art is a vessel of comfort and healing, offering a sanctuary where emotions are laid bare and relationships immortalized.
Faith would love to work with schools, where, through her art, she would raise children’s awareness of their rich cultural heritage and the possibility of becoming an accomplished artist.
One of her BIGGEST dreams is to collaborate with the world-renowned brand Nike, and I’m confident she can make it happen! So, here’s a message for you, Phil Knight; Faith is a rare artistic gem who could breathe new life into your brand. Don’t wait too long. JUST DO IT!
