Faith Omole: An Explosion of Color, Memory, and Meaning

I’d call Faith’s art an art bomb—because that’s exactly what it felt like the first time I saw her work on Instagram: an explosion of color, emotion, and cultural symbolism. Her creations weave striking color contrasts with Adinkra symbols that embody African values, wisdom, and collective identity. A closer look reveals not only vibrant forms and figures but also layers of meaning that draw you in completely.

It took me milliseconds to reach out to this breathtakingly talented artist, and a few days later, we met via WhatsApp call. From the moment she appeared on screen, her calm presence and passionate energy spoke volumes.

Faith’s journey began early, guided by an innate love for art that evolved into a lifelong passion. By high school, she was already known for her exceptional drawing skills and entrepreneurial spirit—her classmates commissioned her for sketches and portraits. Though her parents initially encouraged her to study science, Faith followed her intuition.

She earned a B.Sc. in Microbiology from Obafemi Awolowo University (Osun State, Nigeria) in 2022, while spending her free time in the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, where she drew, learned, and grew. Science may have been her degree, but art was—and remains—her heartbeat.

Today, Faith is a full-time artist based in Lagos, Nigeria. Her distinctive style emerged from a place of profound emotion—the tragic loss of a family member. Through her paintings, she explores the tender bonds between family and lovers, capturing moments of intimacy, memory, and connection. Her art becomes a sanctuary—a place where love, loss, and healing coexist in color.

Her creative vision extends beyond the canvas. Faith dreams of working with schools to help children embrace pride in their cultural heritage and realize the possibility of becoming accomplished artists. One of her greatest ambitions is to collaborate with Nike, merging art and design to celebrate identity and resilience on a global scale. And to that, I say: Phil Knight, Faith is a rare artistic gem—don’t wait too long. Just do it.

Faith’s achievements are already remarkable. She has exhibited nationally and internationally, with her works showcased in Manhattan (Pilot African Indigenous Mural Project, Ankhlave Arts Alliance, 2024), Paris, and Venice (AKKA Project, Italy). Her art has been shortlisted for a prize in Ghana and recognized in three residency programs in Nigeria—one sponsored by the Federal Government of Nigeria and another by Victoria’s Secret.

In 2022, she was invited as a guest speaker at the BlackSAIC Experience at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Most recently, she made history as one of the youngest artists to have her works commissioned for the Nigerian National Archives in sixty years.

“My art is a form of mental survival—a vessel through which I confront loss, celebrate connection, and safeguard the beauty of African heritage.”

Faith Omole’s paintings are more than art—they are emotional landscapes where color heals, symbols speak, and love endures. She invites us to rediscover beauty through resilience and to remember that creation itself is an act of strength.
