Une exposition d'Achilles Kouamé

Bibliothèque Claude-Henri-Grignon

Du 5 août au 24 septembre 2025

Présentée en collaboration avec Mawu Art Gallery

About the Exhibition

Every society rests upon the quiet dedication of people whose work often goes unnoticed.

Ceux qui tiennent le monde (Those Who Keep the World Running) is a tribute to those individuals whose daily efforts sustain our communities: construction workers, cleaners, market vendors, caregivers, mechanics, and countless others whose labour shapes the rhythm of everyday life.

Through a series of expressive oil paintings, Achilles Kouamé invites us to slow down and recognize the dignity, resilience, and humanity found within ordinary moments. Rather than celebrating extraordinary events, these works honour the people whose commitment quietly keeps the world moving.

This exhibition is an invitation to look again—and to see those who have always been there.

About the Artist

Achilles Kouamé is an Ivorian contemporary painter whose work explores the beauty and dignity of everyday life. Working primarily in oil, he captures ordinary moments with remarkable sensitivity, revealing the humanity that often exists beyond the obvious.

His paintings celebrate workers, families, neighbours, and communities, offering a deeply human perspective on resilience, labour, and belonging. Through expressive brushwork and carefully observed scenes, he transforms familiar experiences into timeless reflections on the people who quietly shape our societies.
