Sustenance is a visual celebration of everyday life and the resilience found within it. Inspired by the rich tapestry of personal and collective experiences, the painting weaves together scenes from different corners of the world, portraying people in the places they call home.

 
Against the backdrop of an ultramarine sky, vibrant colors and layered imagery invite viewers into a world where cultural identity, migration, and belonging intersect. From African youth gathered beneath an acacia tree to bundled-up passersby on Quebec’s winter streets, each vignette speaks to the universal human pursuit of stability, connection, and meaning.
 

At the heart of the painting is a meditation on interdependence and cultural exchange. A towering maize stalk divides the canvas—a reminder of our shared need for nourishment, both physical and emotional.
