INSPIRATION
In his famous song ‘Black or White’, Michael Jackson used to say: ‘I’m not going to spend my life being a color. Ironically, he had vitiligo, a condition that causes the skin to lose its color, more precisely its pigment cells (melanocytes). This can result in discolored patches in different areas of the body, including the skin, hair, and mucous membranes. Consequently, Michael Jackson was black, then white.
The woman depicted in this piece is black and white. I’m black. What do you get from all this? Not much really. I guess we must dig deeper to find out something more substantial. Who was Michael Jackson? Who is the woman depicted in this piece? Who I am? Let’s dig deeper. Who are you? Does your color seem a good enough attribute to describe your whole character? What are your qualities? What are your flaws? Do you love yourself as a person? Well, I’ll let you ponder all those questions while I focus on enjoying my life in all its colors and feeling good about myself like the woman in my piece.
