Ganiyat Abdulazeez

Ganiyat’s art possesses a profound and transcendent beauty that soothes the soul. Every time I immerse myself in her work, allowing my eyes to trace every intricate detail, I experience a deep sense of serenity and renewal. This captivating quality of Ganiyat’s art sparked my curiosity, leading me to reach out to her to explore her creative universe more deeply.

A few days later, I had the privilege of connecting with her via video call. My intuition had prepared me to meet a painter whose art is not only visually enchanting but also healing. I was therefore moved, but not surprised, to see the calm and wisdom reflected in her presence. As she shared her journey and artistic vision, it became clear that she is an artist in perfect harmony with her craft—an artist whose work goes beyond stunning aesthetics to offer profound healing experiences.

Ganiyat draws inspiration from her own experiences and the lives of those around her. Her art is a tribute to the restorative power of nature, especially the vitality found in plants and herbs. Her breathtaking figures are often adorned with floral motifs, such as the coral plant (jatropha multifida) and the clover leaf, symbolizing the connection between beauty and healing.

A graduate of the esteemed Yaba College of Technology with both a National Diploma and a Higher National Diploma, Ganiyat is a versatile artist who explores various mediums, including pastel, graphite, charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, and her preferred medium, oil paint.

Driven by a therapeutic mission, Ganiyat envisions collaborating with medical professionals to amplify awareness of both common and rare conditions—like asthma and vitiligo, a progressive skin depigmentation. Her recent series, which focuses on individuals with vitiligo, aims to shine a compassionate light on their experiences. By celebrating their unique beauty, Ganiyat challenges societal perceptions and reaffirms that diversity is a testament to human richness, not a measure of worth.

Thank you, Ganiyat, for creating art that heals and inspires. May you continue to craft beautiful and soul-nourishing works that uplift humanity.
